Join Pi Media and the UCL LGBT+ Student Network on 25th February at 7pm for a discussion over Zoom on LGBTQ+ voices in journalism.

We are delighted to welcome our panel of guest speakers - Ben Hunte, Jane Fae, Rachel Savage and Ella Braidwood - accomplished journalists on LGBTQ+ issues from all backgrounds.

About our speakers:

Ben Hunte - the first LGBT correspondent at the BBC, Hunte reports on sexuality and gender. His journalism has investigated several issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, playing a role in shaping the public agenda. One of the BBC’s youngest correspondents, Hunte has a strong social media presence and last year ranked top on The Guardian and DIVA Magazine’s ‘Pride Power List.’

Jane Fae - feminist writer and campaigner for sexual liberty, Fae has regularly contributed to the LGBTQ+ and national press including The Guardian and The Independent. In 2010 she was awarded Erotic Writer of the Year for her book ‘Beyond the Circle’.

Rachel Savage - currently LGBT+ correspondent at Thomson Reuters Foundation, Savage has previously worked with The Economist covering East and West Africa. Having written for national publications such as The Guardian and The Financial Times, in 2018 she won the Rupert Cornwell Prize for Journalism.

Ella Braidwood - freelance journalist writing on LGBTQ+ rights, mental health, social issues and culture. Previously a news reporter at PinkNews, Braidwood has been published in The Independent, VICE, DIVA and recently The Guardian.

The panel will be hosted by Yoojin Lee, the social secretary of the UCL LGBT+ Network, and followed by a Q&A.
