We are looking for applications for next year's FoMSF committee!

Apply to become a committee member for the next academic year!

The following roles will be up for election:

President

  • Will be in charge of the entire running of the society and will be the primary, Students Union recognised, representative of the society.

  • Will hold final responsibility for actions taken by the society and joint responsibility with the treasurer regarding financial affairs.

  • Will lead the UCL FoMSF Society committee by delegating tasks and ensuring all committee members are fulfilling their roles. May also appoint future committee members with the permission of the elected committee.

  • Will have complete knowledge on the organisation and running of every event, with major input. Must have the quality of critical thinking.

  • Will have a vision by which they would like to lead the society and the events they hold. Have an idea of what legacy he/she would like to leave behind.

  • Will ensure the wellbeing of committee members and society members and promote inclusivity within the society. Will act as a spokesperson for their society’s members in matters.

  • Act as the major link in promoting the values of the society and in encouraging collaboration between other UCL and University FoMSF societies.

  • Will have joint responsibility for the running of the society’s social media accounts and promotion of events via this.

  • Will complete all necessary paperwork (financial or non-financial) and liaise with the Students Union regarding matters.

  • Will book rooms and venues for events.

  • Must have/ show evidence of qualities such as: leadership, critical thinking, time management, effective communication, people management, creativity, sound judgement, organisation, etc.

Vice President

  • Support the President in decision-making matters, and coordinate the efforts of the other team members.

  • Will assist the President with his/her duties and provide support and advice.

  • Will assume the responsibilities of the President if he/she is missing or if delegated to by the President. Must be reliable.

  • Will ensure the wellbeing of committee members and society members and promote inclusivity within the society. Will act as a spokesperson for its society’s members in matters.

  • Will have creative input in the events the society holds/organises.

  • Must have/ show evidence of qualities such as: leadership, critical thinking, time management, effective communication, people management, creativity, sound judgement, organisation, etc.

  • Will also assume the role of Welfare Officer and attend all Union trainings.

Treasurer

  • Ensure that there are sufficient funds in the society’s account throughout the academic year.

  • Work with the President and Vice-President to apply for grants and to check the society’s accounts regularly.

  • Responsible for making sure that the financial intake and expenditure of the society are balanced.

  • Responsible for transferring all money raised for MSF to HQ through cheque or debit card.

  • Will be jointly responsible with the President for all financial matters relating to the Society and ensure the well-being of the society's finances.

  • Is the Students Union recognised representative of the society.

  • Authorises all expenditure from the society (except from the Treasurer themselves) and deals with financial enquiries made to the society. This includes filling in the necessary forms, cashing in money and sending necessary invoices to the Union.

  • Will assess the potential risks of any potential event and intervene when necessary.

  • Will be in charge of the final logistics of every event.

  • Will provide financial reports for the President when necessary.

  • Will assist the President with his/her duties and provide support and advice.

  • Must have the qualities of: critical thinking, reliability, organisation and risk management, etc.

Charity & Fundraising Officer

  • Principle role is to raise money and awareness for the society's core charity, MSF.

  • Responsible for finding innovative ways to fundraise for MSF including events and incorporating fundraising opportunities into society activities.

  • Will take lead for the annual UCL MSF in the Quad day and expand this further.

  • Will have to work closely with MSF and liaise with them.

  • Will have joint responsibility for the running of the society's social media accounts and promotion of charity events and fundraisers via this.

  • Must have/show evidence of qualities such as: critical thinking, effective communication, creativity, sound judgement, organisation, integrity and honesty, etc.

Events Directors (Two Positions)

  • Responsible for organising informative events: speaker events, panel debates and film screenings. Raising awareness for our society and MSF.

  • Responsible for fundraising and social events.

  • Responsible for ideas, inclusiveness, pricing, time and logistics.

  • Responsible for execution of events including: ticketing, promotion and a point of contact at the event.

  • Responsible for liaising with speakers in lead up to events, including abiding by union regulations regarding speaker approvals .

  • Must be realistic with events and see them as feasible. But must bring a vision of events to the table and take initiative with initiating, planning and carrying out the task.

  • Will have joint responsibility for the running of the society's social media accounts and promotion of events via this.

  • Act as the major link in promoting the values of the society and in encouraging collaboration between other UCL and University FoMSF societies.

Must have or show evidence of qualities such as: critical thinking, effective communication, creativity, organisation, etc.

Marketing Director (2 Positions)

  • Will provide marketing material for the society, including: posters, banners, etc. Someone with Photoshop experience is preferable and would make the role a lot easier.

  • Ultimately responsible for running the WhatsApp group, Facebook group, official Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram.

  • Will capture pictures and videos at events, for material to put up on social media.

  • Must have/ show evidence of qualities such as: creativity, critical thinking, time management, effective communication, organisation, a high standard of English language (to make posts appealing and informative for the audience), etc.

  • They are responsible for doing lecture shout-outs, putting up posters and flyers around campuses, setting up Facebook events, and using Twitter and Facebook to advertise events.

Sponsorship Director

  • Will begin researching and contacting sponsors for the society from an early stage whilst adhering to union regulations.

  • Responsible for organising presentations to be made to sponsors and designing sponsorship contracts.

  • Will maintain contact and relations with sponsors and enforce the terms of contract with sponsors.

  • Will adhere strictly to MSF’s dedication to impartiality

General Secretary

  • Record minutes at society meetings

  • Will write the weekly newsletter and send out information about the society.

  • Aiding in writing and sharing event descriptions

  • Responsible for the wellbeing of all committee members and promoting team cohesion.

  • Will have joint responsibility for the running of the society’s social media accounts and promotion of events via this.

  • Will maintain/strengthen contact with other UCL societies and other Friends of MSF societies.

  • Must have/show evidence of the qualities of: reliability and organisation, writing abilities, and time-management skills.
