Description

Leighton House and Sambourne House are two historic houses in Kensington run by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Both houses have been closed to the public due to the pandemic and ongoing building renovation work and we are now excited to reopen to the public on 15th October 2022. We are looking for Visitor Assistants who will be on hand to provide a warm, friendly welcome to visitors in both houses and answer any questions visitors might have. The role will give you the opportunity to get to know the collections and houses in more depth. It will also be sociable and offer new opportunities for learning and skills development.

Duties

Providing a warm, informal and friendly welcome to all visitors

Helping visitors to discover more by answering questions

Helping to protect interiors and collections from damage

Following security procedures to prevent theft or damage

There may be other activities where we could use your help e.g. assisting with workshop set ups, encouraging people to become Friends of the museum.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
Volunteers will be working with other volunteers as well as the Front of House staff.
The Volunteer Coordinator will be your first point of contact.

No particular skills or experience are required and we will provide role related training. This will include a health and safety induction in both Leighton House and Sambourne House plus guided tours of both houses to learn about the collections and interiors.
