Description

We are looking for a volunteer group leader to assist with running our weekly meetings. Ideally working with children (both boys and girls) ages 5-8 or 8-11 you will be working alongside experienced leaders to assist with delivering the weekly programme of activities. We already have a number of student volunteers within the leadership team and the team are very social and welcoming.

Whilst ideally we would like volunteers to attend each week in school term time, we are flexible and understand that at times you may be unable to attend due to other commitments, or you studies taking priority.

Duties

During the session you would be involved in:

  • Setting up and packing away activities
  • Assisting with the delivery of activities
  • Helping to lead games
  • Supporting children who require more involved help

There will be the ability to develop your skills with leading and planning activities if you would like to once you have volunteered with the group for a period of time .

Who will the volunteers be working with?
The volunteers will be working with other volunteer leaders, including other students.
Training
A local induction will be provided at the premises.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Coaching and support will be provided by other volunteers within the group.
e-Learning Modules will need to be carried out when required including safeguarding training.
More formal training courses are optional to attend.

Time commitment

The group requiring leaders meets every Tuesday. The 5-8 year olds meet from 16:45 until 18:00 and the 8-11 year olds meet from 18:15 until 19:45. volunteers need to be on site 15 minutes before the start of each session.
Ideally a volunteer would need to be there every week, although this is flexible and exam periods can be easily accommodated as this group has experience with working with students previously.
