Coin Street Community Builders
The Coin Street Community Programmes Team deliver a range of programmes to local people through promoting health and wellbeing, creativity and self expression, employment and enterprise and skills and learning for life. We have a range of opportunities including one-off activities, regular sessions and project based programmes. We always have high demand for volunteers for our tutoring programme…
Description

Support local older people in our fun and friendly weekly coffee morning. Help set up the session, make teas and coffees, and have a friendly chat.  The group love their weekly quiz so we are keen for volunteers to help write and deliver the quiz to keep it fun and fresh!

Attend the coffee morning on a weekly basis or drop in when you can. This is a busy session with a range of older adults, including some more vulnerable adults with access requirements so your support is much appreciated!

Duties
  • Help set up the session
  • Make tea and coffee
  • Take part in activities
  • Help tidy up and clear away
  • Chat with participants

We are also looking for someone who can write our weekly quiz, coming up with general knowledge questions for the group to answer in teams.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
The Coffee Morning is attended by older local residents to allow them opportunities to socialise, take part in activities and make connections in the local area. We also provide access to the gym in these sessions so people can sign up and access induction. Some of the participants are isolated or have health conditions or additional needs. It is a very open and welcoming group.
Training
If you sign up to be a regular volunteer you can access online safeguarding training for working with older people as well as food and hygiene training.

Time commitment

Our coffee morning takes place every Thursday from 11am-1pm at the Colombo Centre. You can volunteer every week or drop in on a more flexible basis.
