Give Opportunity Global

Give Opportunity Global is a charity registered in England and Wales with the objective of empowering and supporting the poor in East Africa to access education, basic healthcare, clean water and microfinance.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers for Women Business Support executive roles, to support our ‘Women Economic Empowerment Projects’.

You will be working to support a group of women in Uganda by raising funds to invest in their small businesses to help generate income and break poverty cycle.

You will gain an insight of how you can empower a person from a point of hopelessness to successful entrepreneur at as little as £50!

You will have the opportunity to meet the people you have supported and see first-hand the impact your support has made.

No prior experience is required

Role Aim: 

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers for Women Business Support executive roles (WBS-Executives).

In this role you will be working to support a group of women in Uganda by raising funds to invest in their small businesses to help generate income and break poverty cycle.

You will gain an insight of how you can empower a person from a point of hopelessness to successful entrepreneur at as little as £50!

This is a great opportunity which will give you invaluable practical experience of critical thinking, creativity, coordinating with others, people management, problem solving, negotiation, emotion intelligence, decision making, communication and fundraising.

No prior experience is required but a commitment to achieve set goals.

Duties: 

• You will support a group of women in Uganda to raise funds to invest in their small businesses to help generate income and break poverty cycle.

• You will work with the Executive team to decide on the number of women on GOG books that you would like to support.

• You will use your initiative and fundraising skills to raise a small amount of funds for each woman in your group and approve their project plans prior to investment.

• You will work with our fundraising team to provide you with support you may need in fundraising and other activities

• You will work closely with the executive team to develop plans to ensure sustainable economic emancipation of women in your group

• You will work with the executive team to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the project and decide on any corrective actions

• Meet with executive team for work review and updates.

Skills needed: 

• Have good communication and interpersonal skills

• Be able to think creatively and critically

• Be able to work from their own initiative and follow instructions from executive team

• Be organised, reliable and committed

• Have an attention to detail

• Be innovative and can-do attitude

Training: 

Use of MS Office training will be offered if required, media communications and fundraising will be offered if required.

Any other support needed will be provided as requested.

Time commitment: 
3-5 hours per week

We are mindful of students’ study demands, we are flexible and can negotiate convenient time
