About the organisation

Ragged School Museum Trust

The Ragged School Museum is a beautiful and unique building that once housed the largest Ragged School in London, run by the esteemed Dr Barnardo. Today the museum celebrates and remembers his achievements as well as helping people gain an understanding of the Victorian East End. Working mainly with primary school children we run fun, interactive, drama-based workshops in our reconstructed classroom and kitchen.

Specifically, we aim to:

1.Provide children, teachers and families with an understanding of the life of the Victorian poor

2.Ensure that visits are enjoyable, inspirational and interactive

3.Preserve our buildings and our history

Application deadline:
Thursday, 29 August 2019

The Ragged School Museum puts on free, educational art and craft activities that service local and wider London families. Activities include painting, designing and general art exploration relating to a historical topic. We require casual volunteers to assist with the running of these fun and creative educational activities.

Volunteers will gain experience working with children and families and gain experience working in a heritage environment on an informal learning programme. Volunteers will have lots of fun!
