Age UK Westminster delivers regular IT drop-in sessions for our target group at various community locations across Westminster, where volunteers can help out as and when they are available. These sessions take place either from 10am to 12pm or 2pm to 4pm, at least every fortnight.

Volunteers will provide one to one support to our older clients who require assistance with their digital devices (mobile phones, laptops, iPads, tablets)

Reception and Admin Support Volunteers

Recording volunteer and client information on Age UK national database system

Updating and maintaining existing volunteer and client records on both excel spreadsheet and database

Logging telephone enquiries on the database

Become an older people’s Activities Facilitator

The aim of the activity programmes will be to encourage older people in the community, who may be affected by loneliness, social isolation and changing physical and/or mental health to connect with others and to remain socially active, healthy, independent and thus build a better life for themselves. The activities will take place in a friendly environment at Octavia premises around Westminster and RBKC.

We are looking to recruit volunteer activity facilitators who can develop and deliver each of these activity programmes:

Community Outreach Volunteers

Our Community Outreach Volunteers play a very important role in ensuring that local people are kept informed about our services:

• They help to signpost local people to us by distributing our leaflets and information to various local community organisations. This includes GP surgeries, libraries, day centres, churches and older people’s residential accommodation schemes across Westminster.

Age UK Westminster are recruiting a large pool of dedicated volunteers to help out with our fundraising activities and community events. Volunteers will help with activities such as setting up information stands, representing us and promoting our organisation’s work at public events. This role would suit someone who wants to volunteer without the need to commit on a regular basis, but instead can help as and when they are available.

Befriend an older person in Westminster

Age UK Westminster are passionate about tackling loneliness and isolation among older people in our community, we are calling on local people across Westminster to join our Befriending scheme and form lasting friendships with older people living in your neighbourhood. Ideally, a volunteer would telephone an older person or visit once a week for a friendly chat over a cup of coffee/tea, accompany them on a short walk or enjoy a trip out to locally i.e., the cinema or theatre together.

1 to 2 hours per week of your time will make a massive difference to someone’s life.
