Centra Care and Support (Clarion)

Centra Care & Support is a registered charity, part of Clarion Housing Group, a social landlord providing affordable homes and delivering one of the country’s largest social investment programmes.

Activities include residential care homes, sheltered housing projects, shared accommodation and also floating support provided to people in their homes.

We provide support services to vulnerable groups in society including young people with complex needs, people with mental health difficulties, people with learning disabilities, older people, vulnerable families in the community and ex-offenders who also have mental health needs.

Application deadline: 

Perhaps you’re studying a health and beauty, or alternative therapies course; maybe you’re looking for a placement as part of your course; Centra is a non-profit charity, supporting the needs of vulnerable adults in our community, to provide them with life and skills enhancing support. Our service users live independently in purpose built blocks of flats.

Centra has a partnership with the Amy Winehouse Foundation called Amy’s Place, which provides supported living accommodation for young women in recovery and receiving support with drug and alcohol issues.

We would like to meet qualified massage therapists to provide voluntary hours of 3 -4 hours per week or fortnightly. Due to the nature of our client group, we can only accept female applicants.

Role Aim: 

Creating a relaxing space for young women in recovery from a drug or alcohol addiction. Alternatively, they may be receiving support with an eating disorder. Your role will be to provide massages and to give the women, a much-needed wellbeing boost.


Volunteers can do any of the following:

- Tailor massage therapy sessions to individual client needs

- Support clients with developing positive mental attitudes

Skills needed: 

For female applicants only, suitable candidates need to be qualified in or nearing the end of a substantial training in at least one of the following therapies or similar:

- Holistic Massage, Sports Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy

Suitable candidates need to hold full professional insurance that covers the therapy intended to be practiced, membership of appropriate professional body.


- Volunteers receive a thorough induction and have access to any relevant in-house and external training, in safeguarding vulnerable adults for e.g.

- Volunteers have a supervisor providing day-to-day support and encouragement.

- Reasonable travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed.

Time commitment: 
3-5 hours per week
Opening times: 
This is a flexible opportunity: volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on your availability and the needs of service users. It might be every week or fortnight, 3 to 4 hours, ideally for a minimum of 4 months.
