About the organisation

Breast Cancer Haven

Our Breast Cancer Haven London centre has been supporting people through their breast cancer treatment for 19 years. We provide a huge range of free services to those affected by breast cancer including counselling (for friends and family too), support groups, relief from pain caused by chemotherapy treatment by using things like acupuncture, nutritional guidance and money advice services. It costs £1000 to provide the Breast Cancer Haven programme for each Visitor and as we receive no government funding, the fundraising we do is essential.

Application deadline:

Want to make a difference in your London borough? Looking for a flexible volunteering role where you can make a difference locally with the chance to be creative?

We are looking for confident, enthusiastic and organised volunteers that have good local knowledge of their borough and are happy to represent Breast Cancer Haven & spread the word about our essential services.

Volunteers will preferably know their borough well enough to know the hot spots for tins, potential recycling stations, information sessions & fundraisers.

Role Aim:

We are a national charity helping people through the experience of breast cancer. We offer information, counselling and complementary therapies through our welcoming Havens and outreach programme. We work alongside the NHS to provide integrated breast cancer care and are committed to undertaking rigorous research to evaluate the effectiveness of our programmes in helping people with breast cancer.

We are based in Fulham (soon moving to Kings Cross), but currently our users and fundraisers tend to be local to the Fulham area. We are looking for volunteers to spread the word and help fundraising across London. It’s not all about the fundraising, it’s about letting people know we are there for them whist they are going through such a difficult time. Volunteers will preferably know their borough well enough to know the hot spots for tins, potential recycling stations, information sessions and fundraisers.

We are also hoping for our volunteers to inspire fundraising ideas & events, as we are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise money for our charity.

• Work closely with the Community Fundraising Officer to maximise fundraising income

• Follow the Institute of Fundraising guidance on static collection boxes and Breast Cancer Haven’s policies on Health and Safety, Confidentiality, and Data Protection

• Follow all other relevant guidance and training as provided

Skills needed:

• Good team working skills, enthusiasm and flexibility

• Reliability and an honest approach

• Be aged 18 or over
