Community Links are recruiting a volunteer within the Help Through Crisis team to work on a research task developing and producing a directory of services for individuals and families in need in Newham. The role involves desk-based research and agency site visits where necessary and would suit a student of any discipline with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Community Links offers a travel and lunch allowance and the volunteer will gain experience working on an innovative project for a well-established community charity.

Role Aim: 

Research task to carry out an independent project developing and producing a directory of services for individuals and families in need in Newham. The directory is a hugely important resource for people facing extreme hardship or crisis, as well as the professionals supporting them, and no such comprehensive, up to date resource currently exists in Newham.

Duties: 

The role involves desk-based research and agency site visits to gather key information about local services and the people they support. Information will be organised and presented succinctly to produce the final document – a Directory of Services, which will be available digitally and in paper format. This role would suit a student of any discipline.

Skills needed: 

Excellent written skills, IT skills, verbal communication when interacting with professionals, efficiency and organisation, ability to work independently and to use initiative.

Training: 

There will be opportunities to shadow a social worker or lawyer within the advice team.
