About the organisation

Young Hackney

Young Hackney is the Council’s Early Help and Prevention Service for all young people aged 6 – 19 or up to 25 for young people with special education needs or disabilities. Young Hackney works to ensure that all young people in the borough of Hackney enjoy their youth and have support in their transition to an independent and successful adulthood. Our goal is to help remove barriers to progression and support young people to reach their full potential. We run universal services such as youth clubs and sports & citizenship activities as well as offering advice and help to young people who need additional support, on subjects like education, employment, housing or health.

Application deadline:

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run a football competition for Hackney Primary Schools! A fantastic day packed with fun activities, ideal for someone who likes being outdoors and wants to support children to complete a fun sports day!

Role Aim:

Volunteers will help us facilitate the event, work directly with teams of young people, lead them through the sports day, ensure that they participate and follow instructions and the timetable of the day. Volunteers can also referee the games (if relevant).

Our sports events are a lot of fun, easy to run, relaxed and enjoyable. It is a great opportunity for teams to spend a day out of the office, engage in physical activities and experience the joys of working with children and young people, which is a very rewarding experience. The events are risk assessed, supervised and supported by Young Hackney members of staff with expertise in sports, and school staff that accompany the students.
