Solace Women’s Aid is an independent charity providing a comprehensive range of services for women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence.

We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic volunteer to provide support with group work and administrative tasks. The nature of the role can be flexible depending on your skills and experience. You will have the opportunity to assist in the co-facilitation of groups to support adult survivors of abuse. The ideal candidate must have excellent organisational and administrative skills.

Role Aim: 

Provide support to Enfield SASS and/or Haringey Floating Support

Duties: 

We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic volunteer to provide support with group work and administrative tasks. The nature of the role can be flexible depending on your skills and experience.

You will have the opportunity to assist in the co-facilitation of groups to support adult survivors of abuse if you wish to do so. We run structured group work programmes as well as drop-in groups and workshops which can be more informal and flexible in terms of content. We would welcome you to create session plans based your own skills and experience.

You will assist in the promotion of the groups, as well as preparing the necessary materials for the sessions. You will also provide support to the Group Work Coordinator with processing referrals into the service, carrying out risk and needs assessments and carrying out administrative tasks as necessary.

Skills needed: 

- Knowledge of domestic/sexual abuse and the possible impacts on women and children.

- Experience of delivering group work would be beneficial but is not essential.

- An interest and enthusiasm in working with women in a therapeutic environment.

- Ability to speak clearly and empathetically to service users.

- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and handling confidential information.

- Proficient in the use of IT, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Excellent organisation and administrative skills.

Training: 

Volunteers will be able to access Solace Women’s Aid’s induction and internal volunteer training programme. Full support will be given to help volunteers understand and carry out any aspect of the role as appropriate.
