About the organisation

The National Brain Appeal

The National Brain Appeal is the charity dedicated to raising essential funds for The National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London. Our aim is to continue to fund the latest technology and equipment crucial in this fast moving field and support research and state-of-the-art building projects and refurbishments at The National Hospital. Over 12.5 million people with a neurological condition in the UK today - this is more than the number of people living with cancer, coronary heart disease and diabetes combined. We fundraise through a variety of events and activities, from sporting events such as the London Marathon and Royal Parks Half Marathon as well as our own events such as gala dinners, art events and a Christmas carol concert. We have a fantastic supporter database with fundraisers doing a range of events or sponsored challenges for us.

The National Brain Appeal (RCN 290173) raises funds for The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Institute of Neurology. We want to improve the outcome and quality of life for everyone with a neurological disorder by funding pioneering research, providing access to the latest technology for expert diagnosis and training tomorrow’s leading clinicians. Our volunteers help to make this possible.

We are a very small and busy team and the principle focus of this volunteer role will be supporting the fundraising team with day-to-day administration around events and challenges. The role is very varied and will provide a clear overview of the fundraising work of a small charity. The office can get very busy and the role requires excellent attention to detail, confidence when dealing with the public and Microsoft Office skills.
