About the organisation

Origin Housing

To provide affordable social housing for residents living in North London and Herts, creating communities where individuals thrive

We have a commitment to:

Great homes-Creating homes that people are proud to live in by developing new, affordable rented and shared ownership homes.

Positive people-Ensuring we have attentive, caring staff and that we deliver services that are right for you, by tailoring them to your needs.

Strong communities -Helping people and neighbourhoods thrive by working closely with residents and giving them a bigger say in what we do.

Origin Housing is looking for Digital Champions, who can teach others how to use the internet, stay in contact with family, find cheap deals, pay bills online and search for jobs.

Digital Champions will provide residents with the necessary skills to send and receive email communicate with family, manage money while accessing a world of knowledge.

We will provide a quick course on how to train people and qualify as a digital champion and a introduction to the organisation and the work we do. Digital Champions will then provide one to one sessions with residents.

Computer skills are valuable and improve the lives of residents; they give a chance to isolated residents to enjoy a better quality of life. Digital Champions will also be enriched by the opportunity to support those in need. Please support our initiative with your involvement.

Role Aim:

To assist residents with basic computer skills, creating documents, carrying out online searches, creating email accounts and understanding relevant safety + security clients.

Complete a skills and needs assessment for each individual and plan work for six sessions to improve basic skills.

Skills needed:

Digital Champions are people who have the skills to support someone who need help with basic computer skills. Many people have computer skills and understand how they work, but a digital champion is able to share that knowledge for clients who have never used computers before. A digital champion will need to have good communication skills as our residents come from different backgrounds- any experience in dealing with a variety of customers would strengthen applications. Origin also will require that applicants complete the Digital Champion qualification training which can be completed within an hour. Overall we would like digital champions to be enthusiastic about teaching, patient, good listeners and flexible.
