About the organisation

Mind in Camden

A mental health service provider for the borough of Camden. We promote wellbeing by providing solution focused services that support individual responsibility, independence, interdependence, and inclusion in the wider community. Volunteering is possible in the Phoenix Wellbeing and Recovery Service and Healthy Minds Project, which has two branches, our onsite Community Programme and our Social Prescribing Team based in St Pancras Hospital.

Both volunteer roles provide practical help and support for people who are isolated, many of whom have mental health issues. These roles give people the opportunity to gain practical experience and are open to a wide range of people, including users of the service. Phoenix Recovery volunteers may undertake a range of different tasks including preparing food, setting up the centre for sessions, one to one support sessions with individuals, befriending, or taking the lead and running sessions at the Centre. Volunteer Navigators help people work out what they would like to do to improve their mental health, connect with the community and learn new skills. They then support those people to access activities.

We also have opportunities in our Mind in Camden charity shop.

Our busy, successful shop on Camden Road sells entirely donated goods whose profits provide important income for Mind in Camden. It is not part of a national chain and all the income goes to Mind in Camden. We are looking for reliable volunteers to help run the shop.

Ideally, you would be available for one day per week between 10am and 6pm for a minimum of six months. However we welcome volunteers with as little as 3 hours to spare – what is really important is consistency and reliability!

Please call Monika on 020 7284 2236 if you’d like more information.
