If you participate in the community research initiative, we believe this has the potential to greatly benefit you and your master’s experience. First, students tell us that speaking with people from the voluntary sector from areas related to their programme of study helps bring ‘classroom’ learning alive! You can see firsthand the theories and concepts that you are learning about at UCL. Benefit is likely to occur in the other direction too – what you experience and learn through collaborating with a grass roots organisation, focused on delivering and implementing, may change how you are thinking and benefit your essays and coursework.
