Location: Hyde Park, London

Time: We need volunteers between 9:00 and 15:00. You can tell us your availability when you register to join the team.

We will pay reasonable public transport expenses (zones 1-6) and you’ll be provided with a t-shirt and snacks. As a thank you for your hard work you’ll receive a goody bag and certificate too!

What do I get out of it?

• Gain experience of dealing with members of the public and supporters
• And, importantly, contribute to a successful fundraising event, helping to improve the lives of women with ovarian cancer, now and in the future

No previous knowledge or skills are required, we just ask that you arrive with a friendly smile and encourage our supporters with enthusiasm (and a loud cheering voice!).

Please be aware that Run for Mum is a sporting event and as such volunteering roles will be outdoors.

Event Volunteer Superstars Needed!

Are you a dedicated and organised person, passionate about helping others? Join our night-time party and 2,000 other volunteers at The MoonWalk London on Saturday 16 May 2020 from Clapham Common! Get down and boogie with 15,000 woman and men walking an overnight marathon in decorated bras, raising millions for breast cancer!

We recruit thousands of volunteers to make The MoonWalk a safe and enjoyable event; looking after our walkers at busy crossings, keeping them hydrated and above all giving the encouragement they need to complete their epic challenge.

You could spend your Saturday evening in MoonWalk City, Clapham by joining one of 24 different teams, from around 17:00 through to midnight – from litter picking to selling merchandise, registering baggage to handing out volunteer uniforms!

The night time is where the challenge really gets going for our amazing walkers. If you like the nightlife, marshalling or giving out water whilst surrounded by London’s famous landmarks could be for you! Start times vary between 20:00 and Midnight, depending on your role, and last on average 8 hours. We can also offer site based roles at MoonWalk City throughout the night. Early finishes can be requested.

Finally, the early morning team take the helm on Sunday 17 May, starting between 5:00 - 6:00 until midday. Watching the sunrise against a London skyline is quite a sight to see! This truly is the most testing time for our walkers…whether you join the route or MoonWalk City teams…your kind and motivating words could be all that is needed to get someone across that finish line!

On the night you will be provided with training, a t-shirt, cap and free light refreshments. All roles will develop teamwork and confidence, no matter what you do on the night…so why not bring your friends and family along to share this unique experience!

Opportunity: Female Mentor

A woman mentor is an experienced and trusted adviser or guide. On a general level, your role as a mentor is to build a relationship of mutual trust with the mentee you work with and to act as an effective model for them. Your role will include listening, informing and advising the mentee and also demonstrating an understanding of the problems and challenges faced.

A key aspect of your role will be to provide encouragement and motivation. In this respect, you will be trying to help women to become more fully aware of their ability to succeed and to gain a realistic, but imaginative, insight into the range of employment prospects and other opportunities that are open to them.

Due to the nature of the volunteering opportunity, we can only accept female volunteers.

Opportunity: Volunteer Intern

Smart Works is a UK charity that provides high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to women in need. We give women the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools they require to succeed at interview and start a new chapter in their life.

At the core of our service is a two-hour appointment, during which time each woman receives a complete outfit of high quality clothes (theirs to keep) and dedicated one-to-one interview training. Our support really works, and we are incredibly proud that over one in two of client we are able to contact go on to get the job.

Volunteers are central to our success, as they deliver all aspects of our service, and as we look to support more unemployed women we are looking to recruit an intern to join our volunteer community. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is committed to supporting our work and who is looking to gain administrative experience in a lively office environment.

From the Camden Hub in Swiss Cottage we run a range of different services that*ll give you valuable, front-line, hands-on experience working with a diverse client group and the opportunity to give back to your community.

The Baytree Centre is a social inclusion project for women and girls in the heart of Brixton. We are looking for enthusiastic female volunteers to provide 1-to-1 mentoring in personal development to girls aged 6 to 18.

To support vulnerable women residing in the hostel to improve their nutrition/eating habits, through the facilitation of group cooking sessions in the hostel.


Opportunity: Unit Helper

GirlGuiding UK, as part of a worldwide movement, enables girls and young women to fulfill their potential to take an active and responsible role in society through its distinctive, stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities delivered by trained volunteers.

As a Unit Helper you will assist the Guider in the running of the unit. You will work with small groups of young people, helping to provide a safe environment for the girls and others working in the unit. You will also help in the preparation of unit records and financial records.


Opportunity: Supportive Services Volunteer

Target Ovarian Cancer provide support and information to women affected by ovarian cancer. This role will assist the Supportive Services team in delivering this support effectively and efficiently.
The candidate will help market our information and services, ensure accurately kept records and a timely delivery or our information/ services.


Opportunity: Classroom Assistant Volunteer

Assisting in our classes with users and working with our teachers.


Opportunity: Drop-In Volunteer

We are a women-only service located in Kings Cross dedicated to supporting women whose lives are affected by or at risk of being affected by prostitution. We run a drop in service Monday to Friday from 12.30 until 3.30.

During the drop in, service users have access to a hot nutritious meal, shower facilities, laundry and a range of activities which run daily.

Volunteers work alongside staff to ensure the smooth running of the drop in service.

To support vulnerable women residing in the hostel to improve their nutrition/eating habits, through the facilitation of group cooking sessions in the hostel.


Opportunity: Volunteer Befriender

Henna Asian Women’s Group is opening their Befriending service to all individuals that are in need for extra help to improve their social circle. We will reach out to the most vulnerable individuals that live in any Borough of London.
Henna volunteers will pay regular weekly visits to clients and support them into taking steps to come out of the home and access different services.
The Befriending service does not include shopping, cooking, cleaning the individual’s home or bathing/changing the individual or their family members.


Opportunity: Youth Activities Volunteer

The Baytree Centre is a social inclusion project for women and girls based in the heart of Brixton. We create supportive pathways towards social inclusion for inner city families through education and skills development programmes. The Baytree Youth Service runs after school clubs in a number of different activities and is looking for enthusiastic female volunteers to support these clubs starting.
