Opportunity: Diabetes UK Fundraising Events Volunteer - London Landmarks Half Marathon

We need your help! Come and join Diabetes UK for our first London-based event of the year: the quirky, vibrant and exciting London Landmarks Half Marathon. This year, we’ve got 229 runners supporting the charity, and we need your loudest voices and biggest smiles to cheer them to the finishing line.

When? Sunday, 29 March between 10:00 and 14:00

Where? There are two options:

- Mile 5.5 (Chancery Lane/Carew Street) Situated right outside the Knights Templar pub, we’ll have a brass band grooving away to keep those runners moving.
- Mile 11 (Upper Thames Street) – With two miles left, this is where the runners really need us to shout their name, wave our bang sticks and to motivate them over the final hurdle

You’ll be provided with a Diabetes UK T-shirt, bang bang sticks, crazy hair and refreshments.

And to celebrate all the pioneering research that Diabetes UK support, we’ll be dressing up at our Mile 11 cheer point as scientists. Think lab coats, stethoscopes, crazy hair and glasses! Borrow some fancy dress items, bring your own or just morally support those who dress up in costume.

Bring a friend, make a day of it and enjoy one of London’s greatest running events up close and personal!

Opportunity: London Marathon Cheer Squad Volunteers

Be part of one of the UK’s biggest sporting events and join Mencap, the Official Charity Partner for 2020, at the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday April 26.

Mencap will have nearly 600 runners fundraising over £2000 each to change the lives of people with a learning disability, with this year’s fundraising going towards our All Move project, bringing together children with and without learning disabilities through sport.

We want to get as many people as possible to support those with a learning disability and be a part of our ‘movement for change’, showcasing how amazing people with learning disability are and raising awareness on this huge world stage. We have 15 runners who have a learning disability taking on the colossal task of running 26.2 mile and it is very important that we give them the support they need to get over the finish line!

It’s an electric atmosphere where huge crowds gather to support the 40,000 people running through the streets of London, and we need you to join us at one of our cheer points to support them.
