Amendment to Governing Document AGD1307 Amendment to the Bye-Laws 2 Proposer: Christopher Wongsosaputro Passed: Union Council, 3 June 2014 The following amendment proposes to decrease the qualifying age for the Mature and Part-time Students’ Officer to 24 for postgraduate students. Given that undergraduate studies in the UK last for 3 years, undergraduate students starting their degree at the age of 21 would be able to qualify for the post during their undergraduate studies. However, they would not be eligible for the post if they embark on the latter course right after their undergraduate degree. 14. Non-Sabbatical Officers o. Mature & Part-time Students' Officer i. The Mature & Part-Time Students' Officer shall: 1. Be at least one of the following: a) Registered as a part-time student at UCL. b) A student who began an undergraduate course after the age of 21, or a postgraduate course after the age of 25 24. 2. Coordinate representation and campaigning work for the needs and interests of mature and part-time Members within the Union, UCL and beyond. 3. Ensure that all relevant facets of the work of the Union and its other Officers cater appropriately for, and engage with, mature and part-time students. 4. Coordinate campaigns related to the issues of mature and part-time students 5. Union provides Organise activities, events and facilities appropriate and c) accessible to mature and part-time students. 6. Be the Convenor of the Mature & Part-Time Students' Section. 1
