Amendment to Governing Document AGD1301 Removing bureaucracy around Union Executive Committee Proposer: Dan Warham Passed: Union Council, 4 February 2014 UCLU Believes 1. Requiring the Exec to meet every week is too great a burden on part-time officers and not an effective use of their time. Fortnightly would be enough, if it is made easier to call additional meetings when necessary. 2. Requiring non-sabbatical officers to always chair Exec is bureaucratic, unnecessary, and burdensome for those officers. UCLU Resolves 1. To amend the Bye-Laws as follows: 5.3.a. Meetings shall take place weekly every two weeks during term time 5.3.b. Additional meetings of the Union Executive Committee may be called by decision of the Union Executive Committee, a petition of by request offive three of its members, or by Union Council. 5.6.a. The Chair of the Union Executive Committee shall be elected at the beginning of each meeting, and shall be drawn from the non-sabbatical Officers at the meeting.
