You do not need a membership to be part of Project Active! All our sessions are pay as you go, so you don’t need to commit if you don’t want to! Drop in and out as it suits you and your academic and/or personal commitments.

Who can take part?

All our weekly classes are open to current UCL students and members of UCL Staff*

*Please note, if this is your first time booking a Students’ Union event/class, you will need to create a Students Union UCL account before you can buy your class ticket with us.  

How much does it cost to take part?

£3 per class for in person classes, but during this period of self isolating we’re running online classes which are only £1. 

We keep our class prices low to help remove barriers from participation. Any fees we charge help us run the programme, i.e. pay instructor fees, we do not make a profit.

How do I book a class?

It’s simple, all classes are booked on a pay as you go basis, so you just need to find the class you want to attend via the What’s On Calendar or our Events Page, sign in to the website with your UCL username and ID, and book your place. 

If you’re a member of staff you may need to set up an account before you can buy your ticket. 

Once you’ve paid you’ll receive a booking confirmation email from us, please keep an eye out for this (check your spam folder if needed).  Let us know if you don’t get this within 24 hours of placing your booking.

When do classes run?

Classes run weekly throughout term time, including Reading weeks. We try to run our classes at times that work for most students - early mornings, lunchtimes and early evenings.

Where do in person classes happen?

All classes, unless stated otherwise, take place in the Bloomsbury Theatre Building on the main UCL campus.  The building is accessible, and showers are available on site for class users.

How do ONLINE classes work?

We have moved our programme of weekly classes online for Term 3 to help us all keeping moving through lockdown while we’re self isolating.

You will need an internet connection and a laptop/mobile or tablet. 
Some classes will require a yoga mat (check each individual event page for more details) but if you don’t have one a soft/non slip surface will do!

All our online classes are hosted on zoom (https://zoom.us/join) with our usual instructors.
Zoom is a free platform and you do not need to have an account to access our classes.

Book classes as normal via the What’s On Calendar, or via our Online Events page to see everything in one place!

Once booked your booking confirmation email will contain your zoom joining link 

All you need to do is copy and past the link into your web browser and it will automatically open up zoom with the option to switch to the app, if you have it downloaded.

 

How big are the classes?

Class sizes are limited, so pre-booking is required. The maximum number of students in any of our classes will be 15, and in some cases less depending on the nature of the activity.

Who are the instructors?

All our instructors are qualified and insured to run their activity.  They are trained to be able to adapt classes for beginners when needed and to run the classes in a safe and inclusive environment.

You can see who runs each class on the individual event pages, and where we can we have included their social media links so you can get an idea of their style and give them a follow if you enjoy their classes!

Do I need any equipment?

No.  We will provide any equipment you will need for each class. You just need a pair of trainers and a water bottle to stay hydrated!

You are welcome to bring your equipment for some classes if you wish, for example your own yoga mat or boxing gloves for our kickboxing (Muay Thai) classes.

What happens if I’ve booked and then can’t make a class?

Due to the low cost of the programme to students we do not offer refunds or transfer bookings if you are unable to attend a class once booked.
