Imogen Butters
My vision as Treasurer is to build awareness of Women in Finance’s mission, to work towards the goal of reducing the gender gap and bring greater diversity to the finance industry. I want the society to continue to provide more outstanding events, especially as they move in-person next year, whilst continuing to support and empower women within the UCL community and beyond!
I will carry this out through 3 main objectives:
• Strengthen and build relationships with other societies, to boost event attendance and increase awareness of the society
• Expand on the success of the mentorship programme, to continue the society’s work to reduce gender inequalities in finance
• Increase funding for the incredible initiatives of the Relations & Outreach division, especially ‘Ctrl your tomorrow’ and ‘Shadowing Women in Tech’
I am in a great position to fulfil the role of Treasurer for numerous reasons. I have experience on a society committee in first year, so understand the society-Students’ Union relationship and I have overseen the financial aspects of major consultancy projects during my gap year. I want to make the most of the role of Treasurer, to push the objectives of the society and bring gender equality in the finance industry!
Anda-Raluca Epure
As a Mathematics and Economics student, I enjoy problem-solving activities and strategically managing given resources in the most efficient way. Being a Treasurer in my Hall’s Association helped me understand how the financial resources should be assigned in order to support all the events and initiatives. Accustomed to the way of maintaining accurate reports and scheduling funds, I think that I could help the society achieve its goals and provide the members with an unforgettable experience. As a Treasurer, I would search for more sponsorship or maybe partnership so as the society can grow and take part in larger scale events. It would be amazing to contribute to the organization of the initiatives along with the President. I would also like to create more connections with other societies, so as the members can have more chances to extend their networking group, but also their knowledge in different related sectors. Finally, I would evaluate the current situation and think of creative solutions for growing, developing, in order to shape the society according to the members’ liking.
Ananya Toshniwal
Hi! I’m Ananya Toshniwal, a first-year ManSci student. Let’s be real- right now none of us really know each other. This is why I do not see the value in listing achievements that would make me a good treasurer. While I do have experience carrying out similar roles, I believe what’s most important for me is that I highly value the responsibility associated with women representation. Growing up in the largely patriarchal Indian society has led me to challenge gender stereotyping from the beginning. Moreover, my current internship at India Infoline, an Asset and Wealth Management firm, and pursuing a finance-focused degree has sparked my interest in Treasury.
Needless to say, if elected, I would keep an accurate track of UCLWinF’s finances and strive to deploy our funds to...
-Organize a fundraiser fair with stalls of women-run small businesses and donate the proceeds to NGO's like ‘WONDER’ to fund the education of young girls and transform their future.
-Bring a “Women in Finance” TEDxUCL theme to share empowering stories of women excelling in the Finance field.
-Develop a program where WinF volunteers interact with young girls about finance degrees and financial independence.
-Introduce “Women’s Week” to celebrate the international success of women and build community.
Lastly, I am committed to making these unconventional times easier to navigate for our society. If you resonate with my ideas and would like to see them consolidate into action, do vote for me. Thank you!
