Being a member of WinF has been more than just harnessing my networking and more financial skills. It has been a way for me to connect with like-minded people and create great friendships. For me this has been the most valuable part of being a member of WinF, especially taking into consideration the current situation we are all living.
As a FYR I have had the opportunity to get to know the inner workings of WinF and learn so much from the current committee. It is through this experience that I have realized the importance of initiative, responsibility and above all else support for one another. These are three key skills which I believe to have and promise to portray throughout my presidency.
As president I hope, with the help of my team, to be the drive of new projects such as Women in Law, this will be a new branch focused primarily in helping young females achieve their goals as future lawyers. Furthermore, ‘WinF For Africa’ will be a charitable project directed towards young high school students in Namibia with the aim to create greater awareness of the financial industry. Finally, ‘WinF Goes Global’ aims to extend UCL WinF at a global scale, establishing itself in universities across Spain, France and South Africa. All these projects, which aim to educate, equip, and empower both WinF, as well as Guild members, to realise their full potential at university, are just a taster of what I hope will be a great 2021/2022.
