Freya Proudman
With the help of the Student's Union, I founded UCL Welsh Soc in January 2019. I served as President from Jan 2019-Sept 2020 and am currently the VP / Welfare Officer. I absolutely love this role as I am able to assist the president and still contribute greatly to the society I adore!

I have been teaching the biweekly Welsh language lessons every Monday Night during term time since January 2019. In 2020 I produced Welsh Soc's first Bloomsbury Theatre Cultural Show “Hiraeth” which I was able to register as part of the official Wales Week / London Celebrations. I spent about 10 months planning this variety arts show all about Wales which involved working with 90+ students and 6 UCL Societies!

I have helped plan and lead a variety of online events this year. One of my favorites was the #WelshSocWednesdayWorkouts that I ran on InstagramLive every Wednesday of Lockdown #2! I also secured Welsh Soc the opportunity to do a TedX talk this March! I have always been committed to making Welsh Society a welcoming, inclusive, and wholesome place for everyone. This year I helped plan an entire months worth of LGBTQ+ History Events and our fundraiser which raised £360 for Pride Cymru! I have also grown friendships with LSE & Imperial Welsh Socs.

I will always give Welsh Society my blood, sweat, and tears. It has meant everything to me since the day I founded it. I'd really appreciate if you would please consider electing me Vice President/ Welfare Officer 2020-2021! Thank you!
