Alexandra Thacker
I am running for Women's captain as I believe I have a lot to contribute in terms of experience, expertise and spirit to our sport and community. With several years' of experience playing in a few tournaments in the UK and at local club level, I want to use this training to continue UCL Ultimate's stellar legacy as one of the best University teams out there. I am eager to develop our budding ultimate talent pool and engage more people in our fantastic sport. I know team bonding and spirit is especially important in a sport like Ultimate, so I would put more emphasis on team activities inside and outside of training.
Phoebe Teo
I am Phoebe, a passionate Ultimate Frisbee player from Singapore! I have played this sport for more than 3 years. Thus, I believe that my experience, passion and sense of responsibility will help bring the team to greater heights. I also strongly believe that there is potential in every player. Thus, if I was elected captain, my aim will be to develop and train my team to work well together while at the same time, playing and having fun. From my experience, the strongest teams that i’ve played with are always teams that bring each other up and have lots of fun training together, building trust and camaraderie. I strongly believe that by cultivating such a supportive team system where every player works hard and plays hard together, the team will be able to have much more productive trainings while still bonding the team. With this work hard play hard mentality, I am sure that as captain, I will be able to lead the team to many wins in the upcoming season. Being in this team sport has taught me a lot. More than just training and winning, Ultimate Frisbee has brought me closer to many people and made me realise that this is the most important thing. Winning comes second behind the bonds formed in the sport — in fact, as long as we are happy and enjoying ourselves, the wins will eventually come. Thus, as captain, I will aim to cultivate this culture in hopes to form a strong and bonded team.
