Tharsos as a society strives to create opportunities and support those who are involved. There is a wealth of mentoring and help available amongst the peers in the society. I believe not everyone may be able to take full advantage of these for many reasons. I can appreciate how this can be daunting to take advantage of due to notwithstanding the current digitalised format that has had to be adopted. I believe there is merit in ensuring fluid-cohesion in the group. I believe a strong welfare officer can be an influential driver of this. I believe introducing a ‘buddy system’ with members in the same application stage/academic year to augment the current mentorship, as well as inter-divisional mixing, can help attain this fluid-cohesion amongst members. The merits of this will be a group ethos that encourages casual, academic and career discussions. Additionally, advice can be shared amongst members who may otherwise not come in to contact with one another. This, in turn, can allow for the support and opportunities that Tharsos provides to have a further-reaching scope. This will elevate Tharsos’ current success as a group that supports its members. Lastly, Tharsos was recently restructured to become more than a trading group. The society is visibly moving in an exciting direction and it should be pertinent that all members are able to immerse themselves fully and seize the valuable opportunities Tharsos can provide.
