Ryan Turner
Hi, I’m Ryan, currently Pre-Clinical Representative and hopefully a Surgical Sciences iBSc student and your president next year!

My achievements with Surgical Society so far:

- My idea of having a ‘Surgical Portfolio and Careers Guide’ came to fruition thanks to this year’s fantastic committee – every member now has access to this from the start of their career.

- I helped set up the ‘Peer2Peer Mentoring Scheme’ whereby senior students provide support to those that wish to develop their portfolio. I hope to expand upon this in the coming year.

My aims for this year:

- I will foster collaborations with a broader range of societies to facilitate new leadership, research, and teaching opportunities for students.

- I will make it easier for students to keep track of events by making better use of the website or by developing a mobile app.

- I will improve on the welfare and inclusivity of the society by running drop-in sessions for students.

A bit about me:

- I hold a Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Scholarship, through which I have received extensive leadership training and secured roughly eight thousand pounds in funding for research projects.

- I am currently Medical Officer at UCL’s Cancer Charities Alliance Society - I am helping to set up our conference ‘Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Cancer’ this month.

It would be a privilege to become your president this year. I hope to hear your thoughts at the AGM!
