Hi! I’m a second year Comparative Literature student and I would love to be elected President of Subtext. I am really proud of our previous cohorts and if elected, I aim to continue their work so that Subtext remains an exciting and diverse outlet for student voices.

Having been involved with various aspects of Subtext in the last two years, I know what needs to be done to produce engaging content. I have taken on an editorial role and liaised with writers to encourage submissions. This year, I transitioned to a more executive role and assisted the social media team with managing our online platforms. I would like to increase our outreach next year by advertising more frequently on our social media, creating cohesive and aesthetic content, and continuing to work on producing our new website.

From my participation in the Comparative Literature Lecture Series, I became experienced in organising events with external speakers and I hope to do the same for Subtext. As President, I plan to hold cultural events and translation workshops for our members where they can develop their appreciation for art and literature. I would also ensure collaboration with other UCL societies like Photo Society, the LGBT+ Network, and Writers’ Society.

As your President, I hope to dedicate myself to developing Subtext’s reputation as a hub of creativity and expression.
