Farah Almabruk
Hello, I’m Farah, a first year Law student and I’m running for welfare officer for SJP soc. As a Mathematics tutor and a volunteer at UCL’s CAJ, I have been trained in children’s welfare which has granted me some transferable skills I hope to use to cater to your needs. As welfare officer I will be there for you not only for your general welfare needs but also those related to the society. Activism requires sufficient awareness of atrocities and the issues we discuss, however the things we see can be very burdensome, particularly for diaspora members. So, I hope to push for events surrounding how to look after your mental wellbeing as well as how to help your friends who are impacted by certain issues and events, whilst continuing the fight for justice for Palestine. As someone who has struggled with mental health, I am very empathetic and can therefore give effective practical advice as well as just listen to any issues or concerns you may have, whether personal or society related. I aim to push for events, programmes and resources targeted towards mental welfare in the emergence from the pandemic. As I’m sure we have all changed and been adversely affected by COVID, I will do my best to help you navigate a return to normalcy and the mixed emotions it may incite.

My name is Ziad, I'm a SSEES History, Politics, and Economics student. Over the last few years, my Palestinian, Moroccan, and Jordanian background has led me to explore my personal and political identity in great depth. I found that talking to a wide range of people and contributing to your broader community is essential to intensifying your roots and bonds. As the Welfare Officer of SJP, I plan to:
1. Ensure the mental and intellectual safety of all SJP members as well as the broaded Palestinian community
2. Showcase Palestinian identity, culture, history, and knowledge.
3. Provide the opportunity for members to establish meaningful and lasting connections with other members, societies, and universities.
