Hey! I am Danilo and I would love to be the welfare officer! I studied Spanish for years (including at GCSE and A level) and I absolutely loved the language and want to inspire more people to learn and continue to learn Spanish! I also loved learning about the Spanish and Latin American culture and I have actually made a few youtube videos about it, and I would love to learn and teach more about it! As your welfare officer, I would ensure that everyone in the society enjoys the events as much as possible, but I will also be there to help anyone and resolve any issues, however big or small. I am a very organised person - last year, I ran 5 societies, including a Languages and Cultures Club with my friend, which I loved! I also have many ideas for events, such as a "Spanish music clubnight" (where we dance to Spanish music!), Spanish food competitions, Quizzes and more! I also would love to promote regional languages in the Hispanic world, such as Catalan, Basque, Guarani and Galician.
I am pleased to be running welfare officer for the second consecutive year.
Being Spanish, I feel the society so close to home and that is what I hope to transmit to the future of the society, a sense of warmth and inclusion. During this year, COVID has made it difficult for all of us to socialise, having taught a lot of you in Spanish classes has made my days lighter. Transmitting knowledge and trust with an exchange of laughter, learning and even virtual friendships.
As welfare, I want to make the Spanish society space where people from different nationalities and those coming from Spain have a space to connect with our culture, our costumes and learn. Not only that, the committee and the team are all amazing fun, and hopefully without strict covid restrictions, all the social events can happen, bringing even more joy.
