One of the things often overlooked is mental health and well being. I am applying for this role as I want to raise awareness about this and introduce some programmes to help maintain well-being. Be it from short emails to posts on how to destress or a drop-in session fortnightly just to have a chat and have a sense of normalcy or some sort of social interaction. Mental health is increasingly prevalent and the pandemic exacerbated the issue altogether. I wish to help make the society a place where we can feel vulnerable and relax amidst the confusing and stressful university experience. Coupled with how online learning has dominated most of our year, I believe having interaction is pivotal for a successful uni life. I humbly request for your vote

Just like any typical first year, I did not know what to expect when I first joined UCL (especially in this economy). The apprehension I felt when facing a whole new environment, as well as the debilitating fear that I will end up with no friends, quickly abated when UCLSS first reached out with well planned talks and events.

I knew then that this society will truly be a home away from home when I eventually get to London. The committee and society members were all very welcoming as well as more than willing to help each other out, and it was here where I made my first friends from UCL. Hence, I would love to play a part in maintaining this atmosphere as your Welfare Officer / Director of Communications.

My priority would be to ensure that everyone feels at home in the society, and I aim to do so by focusing on two things: ensuring inclusivity and streamlining outreach. Ensuring inclusivity means planning events that can cater to people of all backgrounds, as well as taking a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to harassment. As for streamlining outreach, I wish to ensure that information sent out will be available on all platforms, allowing members to easily access information they need without combing through different accounts.

My experience in UCLSS has been amazing so far, so I hope that you will give me the chance to be your Welfare Officer / Director of Communications, and I promise I will continue ensuring UCLSS is your home away from home.
