Sukhmani Sandhu
Hi everyone, I’m Sukhi and I am applying for volunteering officer to hopefully be able to share my drive for helping others and organise more volunteering opportunities next year to get as many people involved as possible. Sewa, selfless service, is such an important part of Sikhi that is embedded in our traditions and culture. I want to be able to embrace this and give back to the society by organising more events, building on those that took place this year such as providing hot meals to the homeless with Gurseva and NishkamSWAT. In addition to this, I also want to come up with new ideas to hold fundraisers and build connections to support the amazing work that larger organisations such as Khalsa aid are doing globally. I believe I have the strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as a passion for volunteering necessary to achieve this. UCL Sikh Society is a great and welcoming environment that has really made my first year at university. I am so excited for the year ahead and know that as a society we can make a difference in our local community and beyond!

I would love to be the volunteering officer for Sikh Society next academic year because I have a massive passion for volunteering and seva. I currently volunteer for Nishkam Swat in Reading and Kings Cross and so I have the relevant contacts to organise volunteering events. In Sikhi, selfless service is so important and something which I really want to grow within the society. I would love to give everyone in the society the opportunity to regularly go out and serve our community as it is one of the greatest things we can do. Through this, I would also love to grow the charity side and help collaborate with different charities, organise fundraisers and further help the community. This way, we can connect more with society members, as well as connecting with the wider community. Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless you all. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
