With all the challenges we’ve faced in 2020/21, next year it’s imperative RUMS comes back STRONGER, BIGGER and BETTER than ever. As your RUMS President, I will endeavour to help RUMS realise its full potential to bring people together, and continue to dedicate myself to this wonderful community as I have done during my term as Events VP.

If elected, I would strive to:

- BRING RUMS BACK WITH A BANG. Personally deliver in-person events that students missed out on this year, and facilitate more opportunities to bring all of RUMS together, societies and all.

- GIVE POWER TO THE PEOPLE. Create ‘RUMS Focus Groups’ to promote and protect diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of UCLMS, and work to facilitate the smoothest possible return to F2F teaching for all years using your feedback.

- ADVOCATE FOR MENTAL WELLBEING. Work directly and frequently with people in RUMS to develop strategies to help improve student support at UCLMS and improve accessibility to mental health training for all students.

- MAKE RUMS MORE VISIBLE. Hold ‘State of RUMS’ meetings and post RUMS Committee monthly updates for greater transparency, and revamp the RUMS Bulletin to a more engaging format.

With your vote, let’s bring RUMS back!
Emily Williamson
RUMS is an incredible community that has supported me throughout Medical School. As your President I would bring about positive change and represent you. As RUMS VP for Sports and Societies, I’ve worked towards implementing bursaries to help students get involved in extracurricular activities, driven change towards equality for women’s sports teams across the university, campaigned for the creation of new RUMS societies and more. I'd like to continue promoting inclusivity, having led the antiracism survey initiative whilst RUMSWHC President which was used widely by TeamUCL and was the catalyst for their Black History Month Panel Event this year.
My aims are to:
- Seek clarity regarding the scope of UCLMS Student Support and work with the service to create changes that will encourage students experiencing difficulty to reach out early, to better maintain our wellbeing and academic success.
- Provide support for first year students finding flatmates and accommodation in London.
- Support students’ academic interests in the transition to a post-pandemic learning environment, ensuring all students receive the best teaching possible in person.
- Collate sessions hosted by societies such as MedSoc, in a calendar published weekly to increase outreach and help students find relevant events.
- Facilitate the safe return of our beloved RUMS events, with great social opportunities for all year groups and ‘REFRESHERS’ events for our current first years!
Thank you for your support!
