Alexia Mihaila
My name is Alexia Mihaila and I am an undergraduate Arts & Sciences student running for the Editor in Chief position for UnCL!

I am passionate about music (playing the piano, the drums, and the guitar for over 8 years now and listening to diverse music genres) and writing (writing for UCL's Connect.ed Blog and having previously published in online magazines). My former experience with music, writing, and visual art qualifies me to be a good Editor in Chief for the Under City Lights Magazine! :)

I plan to:

* Form and train the UnCL team by organizing workshops with other societies and people in the industry depending on the role they want to take in the team (e.g. for the writers a workshop with the Writers Society, for the photographers a workshop with Photo Society, etc.)

* Organize bi-monthly meetings to discuss possible ideas for the magazine, as well as, checking up on the members' progress

* Working closely with the Head of Music to secure gig passes and interviews for writers and photographers

* Working with the Treasurer to fund the printing of this year's issue and selling it through merch bundles or separately

* Promote the available spaces in the UnCL team to increase the exposure of the magazine and Rare FM

* Offer smooth communication regarding general queries or our working process

I am deeply passionate about this project and I'll do my best to make the Under City Lights a high-quality, sought-after piece of work! :)
Yash Zodgekar
Hi, I’m Yash and this year I’ve presented my show Build Your Own Album. I’m running for UnCL editor because I love listening to, thinking and writing about music. As editor, I’ll have three priorities:

1) PROMOTE DIVERSITY: I believe the best music journalism champions a diverse, exciting range of music. I’ll curate content about music spanning many time periods and genres, by artists from a wide range of backgrounds. I will also build inclusive writers teams and prioritise accessible writing.

2) INCREASE ENGAGEMENT: We can attract more readers who engage deeply with content by using social media more extensively to involve them– for example, integrating polls on readers’ music opinions into content, such as album reviews.

3) COLLABORATE ACROSS UCL: Collaborating with other music-focused UCL societies will make our content fresh and relevant to the student population, benefiting our genre specific content and spotlighting UCL musicians.

I’ve run magazines previously, giving me the necessary organisational and people skills for curating content and liaising with people. Also, I’m a lifelong Londoner, I’m a drummer and pianist, and I write music – these experiences will equip me to find interesting perspectives to publish, up-and-coming artists to promote and gigs to review around the city.

Overall, I’ll use my enthusiasm and love for music to do the best job possible and produce content reflective of the diverse and amazing talents of UCL's music community.
