Haroon Nasir
Assalamu alaykum PakSoc members! My name is Haroon Nasir and I am running to be your Events Officer. If elected, I hope to put on more events for everyone to enjoy and meet new people.
Zarah Sohail
Salam everyone!

My name is Zarah, a current second year studying politics and international relations, and I would love to be your events officer next year. I really enjoyed being on committee this year, despite having all our events online, it was honestly such a great experience. I really enjoy planning and creating events, as well as putting effort into the tinniest of details. As a society we really tried to reflect that in our online events, but there is so much one can plan for zoom events. I hope I never have to say 'zoom event' ever again, if I do then I'll officially drop out of university.
I feel like this is way too much sarcasm for a manifesto, (long live UCL).

On a serious note, these are some of the ideas I have for next year. They are all in-person ideas, because optimism about the future is important!
(I say, while sitting at home, waiting for my next online seminar) :

-An initiative to actively include the different ethnic and religious groups in Pakistan. A 'Paksoc inclusion initiative', for all voices to be heard. The collaboration done with Absoc, was a major stepping stone into creating more inclusive and diverse events. Hopefully, this initiative can become a wider and broader initiative across all universities.
- Also, all the online events which happened this year, will be translated into in-person events, such as games nights, art classes, as well as the different cultural events.

Vote for Zarah, my characters are running out!

Musa Siddiqui
I'm standing for this position as I'm extremely excited in being part of the Pakistani community at University. I also have a diverse range of ideas for events that I want to organise. I believe that adapting to online university has been very hard for everyone and a lot of the society and university experience has been affected. Despite this, I've luckily been able to make a great group of friends through Paksoc and I would like to provide the same experience for next years students and even current students to enjoy the Paksoc experience to the maximum and be able to take part in events in which they can feel connected and learn more about Pakistan as well as making great friends. Additionally, in the past I’ve helped organise successful events in my sixth form, for example Charity week. We were able to organise many successful events in this week which helped us raise money for a great cause.
I believe I am a good fit for this role as I have great communication skills, therefore, I’ll be able to discuss my ideas with other committee members clearly so that it’s implemented as perfectly as possible. Also, I’ll be able to work together with them and take their ideas on board too, in order to produce the best possible event. I believe there’s a possibility that next year’s events will also be online. To combat this, I want to provide events involving challenges of different sorts. This will mean that members will remain connected to each other despite the pandemic.
