I have been the Nordic Society Welfare Officer for the 2020/21 year and it has been a great opportunity. I have helped to organise a wide range of online events during the year. If elected, I would love the opportunity to continue working with the committee, helping to organise events and making sure the society is an inclusive and welcoming place for our members.
Danilo Paganelli
Hey! My name is Danilo and I love the Nordic languages and cultures! I have been self studying Swedish for a few years, and I am planning on learning many more Nordic languages in the future - especially during my year abroad in Norway (I hope)! As your welfare officer, I would go out of my way to resolve any issue that anyone in the society has - however big or small - and would ensure that everyone in the society feels safe, comfortable and happy. I would also make sure that feedback is taken seriously, and that everyone feels that their voice is heard. I am a very caring and responsible person - during my first final year of sixth form, I ran 5 societies, including a "Languages and Cultures Club", where I lead a session on Swedish! In addition to promoting languages such as Icelandic, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian etc., I would also love to promote lesser-known Nordic languages, such as Greenlandic, Faroese, Sami, Kven and more! I also have many ideas for this society, and would ensure that it is the best that it can be!
