As a fresher myself this year, I can remember spending a lot of time before coming to UCL scrolling through the various social medias of all the societies I was interested in joining. As a ‘first impression’ of the club, I feel it’s important for these pages to not only be fun and exciting to look at (although who doesn’t love a really cute, purple aesthetic?) but to also give potential players all the information they could possibly need.

Having ran school Instagram pages in the past, and having spent a lot of time trying to spread the word online about a year-long fundraising endeavour last year, I have plenty of experience putting together funky graphics and I am more than happy to procrastinate my degree as much as possible by coming up with posts for our social media pages and working on the newsletter.

I will happily chat to anyone and everyone interested in netball over DMs (or just in general) and will stop and nothing to help encourage and welcome new players into our wonderful club and sport!

This year we have seen that now more than ever it’s so important to stay connected with eachother online and so hopefully you will consider me for PR Officer and the person who will help us all to do so!

Thanks for reading - Alice :)

Hello, I’m Kitty. I’ve been a member of UCL netball for the past two years and have really enjoyed it! Netball is a great club and has always felt so inclusive. After breaking my shoulder on a night out in my second week of University I feel I perhaps haven’t been as active a member as I would have otherwise liked, hence next year I would love to get more involved and run for PR officer. As PR Officer I’d make sure to post frequently, taking lots of photos of matches and events for the UCL netball Instagram page. I’d also maintain netball as an approachable club for freshers, making sure to respond to any DMs. I’m quite a creative person so would really enjoy creating the visuals and would make sure to post about important issues, for instance the underrepresentation of women in sports, such as in the ‘this girl can’ campaign. Can’t wait to see you all on the court when things reopen again!

As a creative, friendly and driven student, I think I would be well-suited to the role of PR officer. I love creating and have spent lockdown selling handmade phone cases. I would love the opportunity to create new and exciting content and visuals for the Netball Instagram page. I enjoy writing which is reflected in the choice of my degree (history!) and I would be able to create engaging newsletters. I have had experience with positions of responsibility previously including being a member of the student voice, sports captain , prefect, house captain and wellbeing ambassador. I like engaging and meeting new people and can communicate online in a friendly and open way. If elected I would really love to be creative with social media and create exciting posts and visuals.
Charlotte Seare
Hi my name is Charlotte, I am currently a second year studying Classics. I’ve been part of UCNC since day one at UCL, I would even say potentially before that as over the summer after I got my A-level results, I messaged the UCNC instagram with a few questions before I had even started UCL. I think the social media pages are so important to let all our UCNC members know what is happening, when events are happening and just general club matters. It is so lovely so see other teams and how they’ve got on in matches and what teams get up to after matches who aren’t in the same training groups as you, so as PR officer, I would love to show more behind the scenes from the netball club. I would love to be the PR officer as I have an Instagram for my dog with over 15k followers (feel free to check it out 🤣 if you haven’t already seen it marlin_the_fox_red_labrador) and I absolutely love taking photos and editing all the photos for it. I would really enjoy doing this for UCNC’s instagram and continue the precedent created by the current PR Officer.
