Rebecca Sykes
I would love to have the chance to continue as fitness sec in person rather than through zoom! This year I have really enjoyed running workouts adaptable for all fitness levels and getting the club together through zoom weekly workouts. Next year I hope to continue in the same spirit, with Sunday evening fitness sessions something to look forward to rather than dread! I will also help teams and individuals plan fitness programmes suitable for their needs and accessibility to equipment/gyms. Throughout my time playing netball I have been lucky to have been part of S&C programmes and so feel experienced to lead workouts and plan programmes.
Having experienced my fair share of injuries I know how important strength and conditioning is for netballers, reducing the risk of injury during court training sessions and matches. A huge part of that is mobility as well as strength and cardio, so I will be sharing movements from more qualified personnel to meet those aims too.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, SERETONIN! Exercise is one of the most accessible ways to help your brain, I know it's a cliché and I have rolled my eyes many a time when someone has told me to 'exercise, it will cheer you up!'. But, there is no better feeling than post-workout, especially one you have completed with your team mates. As fitness sec I would hope to provide a space for people feeling down or stressed or anxious to take their mind off things.
Bex :)
