Hi guys I’m Will and I’d love to be Treasurer of the Music Society. I’m studying history and going into my third and final year and have loved being part of the Music Society for the past two. It’s provided some of the best moments of my time at UCL. Being involved in the Chamber Choir, Symphony Chorus and Opera really made my first year, and although we haven’t been able to do too much recently, I can’t wait to get doing everything again next year.

I’d really value the opportunity that the role of Treasurer would provide to give back to the society that I’ve so enjoyed being a part of. This year I’ve had the opportunity to manage the Chamber Choir, which has been a great pleasure. We were able to do some singing in September and October when I held auditions and rehearsals and organised for the group to give a Remembrance service at the beautiful St. Stephen Walbrook. I’m really looking forward to May when we’ll hopefully be able to perform at the LFCCM. I’d love to contribute further to the Society as Treasurer. Music has always been a big part of my life and I’d bring that passion to the role. Thanks so much.

Hello! I’ve decided to run to be your treasurer next year as being part of the Music Society has been an incredible highlight of my time at UCL and I’d like to enable others to experience the joys of this society for themselves! Having been orchestra manager this year, I’ve worked extensively within the committee and consequently understand how the society runs, how the different ensembles integrate together and the main expenditure considerations. As treasurer, my priority would be ensuring that you as members feel confident you’re receiving value for money, and that the finances are kept organised and spent wisely in ways that directly benefit you, including more money for socials and biscuits, whilst also meeting the unique requirements of each individual ensemble. I’m very organised and proactive, this year organising almost 70 virtual orchestra auditions and coordinating multiple chamber ensembles pre-lockdown. I’m also approachable and confident with spreadsheets… but most importantly I’m passionate about the Music Society- you can guarantee I’ll work extremely hard to ensure the anticipated return to in-person music-making is a success! There’s so much to look forward to next year, and I can’t wait to create some lovely memories with all of you!

Hi! My name is Yihan (Helena) from the Eustones and I'm running to be your Treasurer.

As a Mathematics and Statistical Science student, I love dealing with numbers and spreadsheets. In fact, for my past internship experiences, I spent 80% of my time on average on Excel, creating data sets, calculating funds, managing internal HR data, etc. As tedious as it sounds, I gain great satisfaction from doing spreadsheet-related tasks because of the organisation and efficiency it brings as well as the sense of achievement when everything is in place. I have also learnt to become exceptionally meticulous and careful from the multiple tasks that I have done.

Although as a first-year student I knew very little about how events operate normally for the society, I believe my willingness to learn and the transferrable skills I gained from previous work experience can make up for my lack of experience in the society.

If I were elected as the Treasurer, I would
• ensure accuracy, transparency, timeliness, and tidiness in the work
• utilise the funds wisely, cautiously, and responsibly
• communicate and cooperate regularly with other members to keep everybody informed

Please vote for me, and I will do my best to ensure the smooth functions of the Music Society. Thank you!
