Michele Chan
Hi everyone! I am Michele, a 3rd year Medic currently intercalating in Infection and Immunology.

I joined Music Society as a fresher, singing alto in the Chamber Choir, and playing 1st violin in Symphony Orchestra. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being on committee as Chamber Choir Manager and VP in my 1st and 2nd year respectively, where I got to work with amazing fellow committee members and our conductor Charles. This year, as President of this society, I have had to make tough decisions to cancel various rehearsals and concerts for the safety of our members, most notably our much-anticipated annual UCOpera production.

Therefore I’d love the opportunity to co-produce the UCOpera performances in the Bloomsbury Theatre next Spring. From past concerts and this year’s auditions, I’ve witnessed the talent and dedication of our singers and instrumentalists first-hand, and very much look forward to harnessing that into an wonderful production (and very importantly, an amazing afterparty too!)

I am running for the position of Opera Producer because I am very interested in performing arts, having done musical theatre and had multiple opera singing opportunities over the years. I am organised, driven, and determined to work with different professionals. I will try my best to organise activities and events for next year despite being in a pandemic, and hope you can see my passion and excitement to be nominated for this key role, which brings life and shares the joy of music making.
Maya Banerjee
Hi all, I’m Maya, a third-year medic, and I’m excited to be running to be joint Producer for Music Society 2021-2022.
I have been part of Music Society from my first year at UCL and can honestly say the Society has provided some of my most memorable and rewarding experiences at university, from concerts in beautiful venues with firm friends to the fabled UCOpera production.
As Chamber Choir Manager in second year and Treasurer this year, I have had plenty of experience of working within the committee and for the larger musical community, and would be so grateful to continue to work to make music with everyone here.
Having had past experience of a UCOpera, I can bring a lot to the table, as well as all the new knowledge I have gained financing the Society this year.
I plan to ensure we put on a production that reflects the talent and enthusiasm of our Society, whilst also creating a space for everyone to let loose, especially at the infamous afterparty – watch out! So please, think about voting for me!
