After a year of no choral singing, I know that I, amongst many others, are eager to get back to it. As the Chamber Choir Manager, I believe I could make up for this lost time with more new and exciting opportunities for the Choir. In particular I would like to get the Chamber Choir to collaborate with other choirs across London, this would be an opportunity to sing in new venues with large, experienced choirs and some fabulous choral directors. I am currently a member of the Bach Choir and have previously sang with many other London choirs and know what fun experiences come from it.

As was planned for last year, doing an Evensong would also be something I'd like to organise. It would mean we could pick a slightly different repertoire and perform in a beautiful London church or perhaps somewhere further out in England for a change of scenery.
I look forward to meeting all of the members of the Chamber Choir and coming together again in person.

Covid stopped the music. Survey data suggests that one third of musicians considered abandoning the industry due to the pandemic, with live music venues seeing a reduction in revenue by 85%. The future for music has never looked so bleak. And indeed, the Music Society has not been exempted from its effects.
My name is Harvey and at UCL I am a first-year economics student, but principally I am a musician. Chamber music is my passion, and I have led and partaken in numerous chamber music ensembles across Yorkshire. Sitting down with a rich, polyphonic manuscript and teasing out certain musical phrases and ideas is part of the magic of music making in my opinion. I would love to explore challenging, early repertoire such as the work of Palestrina and Emelio de Cavalieri, as well as a more diverse catalogue of black and ethnic minority composers of choral works, to stand alongside the typical cannon of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart.
I achieved the diploma in piano in 2018 and have been part of choirs before coming to university. I would love the opportunity to lead the Chamber Choir and share this passion of mine.
Let’s start the music again.

I am a devoted and passionate singer, who has had over 10 years of choral and solo experiences, both in Hong Kong as well as in the UK at Cheltenham Ladies’ College. I promise to make rehersals engaging, fun, interactive, but also to produce the highest quality arrangements. Music making should be an activity that everyone gets to enjoy, and destress from our hectic academic schedule.
