Hello! My name is Holly and I am running for the position of welfare officer because I'd love to be a bigger part of something that has brightened my every week here at UCL. As a first year undergraduate, I may have not been in the society for a great deal of time, but can certainly confirm the fulfilment I get each week from practising and learning mindful living with such a lovely group of people. I have been meditating and exercising mindful practises since the beginning of 2020, but I think the beauty of mindfulness is that you do not have to be some kind of spiritually enlightened guru to feel the benefits, and that is why I'd love to be a larger part of showing these approaches to anyone willing to try.

If elected I would aim to:
Organise a series of face to face events (when restrictions are lifted), where we can have some much needed social time and create some peace and positivity to carry through the week.
Create a safe and friendly space for anyone that needed it, offering a place to chat, rant, and learn some new ways of cultivating inner peace.
Collaborate with members to find new and exciting ways to explore mindful practises, perhaps with nature walking, drawing, or even food!

I believe that even a little bit of time a week just focussing on yourself can create such a positive way of living that will influence all other areas of your life, and I'd love to try and illustrate this as welfare officer on the next committee!
