Manas Soni
I have developed a passion in emergency medicine during my placement at Princess Royal University Hospital, where I observed the range of clinical skills, teamwork and immediate impact the doctors had on the lives of patients. Therefore this role will allow me to pursue my passion whilst helping likeminded individuals.
As Executive Director of Hindu Society and founder of Junior Natural Sciences at School, I have experience organising events such as charity races, games nights, academic tutorials and networking events, including the UCL event of the year nominee Rangeela.
As part of my manifesto, I wish to introduce:
• An emergency case of the month where students on placements can submit interesting cases they have come across whilst anonymising the details.
• An emergency clinical skill of the month where students can register a video summary of a clinical skill they have learned which would be of use in an emergency medicine setting.
• Sharing the case of the week on the newsletter and on social media in the form of a quiz.
• Increase engagement on social media through arranging polls to identify which talks are more requested by the members.
I will use my existing organisation and leadership skills and develop them further to help plan new events and improve existing ones to support the current members and attract more. Through these additional motions and building on existing ones, I wish to showcase how exciting and rewarding emergency medicine can be.
