Firstly, I value this society. Since I have joined UCL, Malaysian Society has given me many opportunities in the form of events and initiatives. After being offered so many opportunities, I want to help create those same opportunities for others.
Secondly, the secretary job has many varied skills because it extends to different job scopes. From the day-to-day of replying emails to coordinating the Mentor-Mentee System and overseeing social media posts, all these jobs need various soft skills. If I get this position, I will be able to hone and refine these skills that I currently have.

I have had experience being a publicity director in the Representative Directors Programme. This allowed me to learn how to create social media posts using Canva, as well as familiarize myself with the requirements for social media posts on our Facebook/Instagram pages. Although I do not have much experience in managing websites, I am very willing to learn!
Furthermore, I have had experience in working on a board of Directors previously, both in Student Council and Christian Fellowship during my high school. This means that I understand what working in a team requires, and how I can work best in a team.

I will organize the Mentor-Mentee System. I believe that it was more effective to have it earlier in the year, as this year’s Board of Directors did. This way, freshers can feel more confident when entering the academic year, knowing at least a few familiar names and faces.

Apa khabar saudara-saudarimu!

MSoc is special in that it actively tries to act as the pillar of support and bring a sense of community to us despite the challenges of the pandemic and I would love to contribute towards furthering and continuing these ideals and actions.

If elected, I plan to conduct the following plans:
- Introduce a mini newsletter on COVID and general health updates
- Introduce mini guide/summary templates for mentors to use in the mentor-mentee system
- Create a feedback system for society members to voice their suggestions for the club
- Maintain the quality of social media and publicity materials

My relevant experience include:
• Member of the RD team
- Organising Chairperson (Kopi with Shopee)
- Vice-Organising Chairperson (Virtual Escape Room)
• Organising Committee of two Model United Nations conferences
- Chief/Under Secretary General of Logistics and Administration (ReformMUN 2019)
- Chief/Under Secretary General of Internal Committee Affairs (SKISMUN 2018)

*Note: The Student Union voting system is such that only one position is available per society member. So, if I am elected as Vice-President instead, I will introduce all of these policies as well!

I have been involved in the Malaysian Society’s Representative Director (RD) Program for two terms as the secretary and publicity director respectively for each term. I absolutely enjoyed my tasks of writing up proposals as well as managing publicity materials for the team, and hence I would like to be even more actively involved in the society, by being the Secretary/Community Outreach Officer.
In terms of social medial platforms and publicity materials, I will explore and find out the most effective way to promote our future events, by studying the trend of participant rate based on all how all our previous events were promoted, and improve from there.
I am determined to both maintain, as well as improve the mentee-mentor system by communicating with seniors of year 2 and above, to persuade them to be involved in the mentor-mentee system. I also plan to carry out surveys for feedbacks from freshers who were involved in the mentor-mentee system, in order to get an idea on what other things we could improve on. With the feedback obtained, I will then work with other board of directors, to improve on the mentor-mentee system.
