Hi, I’m Chris and I’d love to be your Social Secretary next year!
I’ve been involved for 2 years through inter-art events and I’ve really enjoyed my experience of the society the past few years. I’d love to be involved in taking the society forward as in-person events start up again!

My goals as Social Secretary:

● Encourage and facilitate social interactions between all members of the society, to bring people closer and foster engagement with the society. Many of us don’t perform but still love live music, and socials are the best way to build friendships if events and shows aren’t your thing!
● Inter-arts socials. There are lots of opportunities for Live Music members to perform in other UCL Arts societies, such as Jazz and Musical Theatre. Having more inter-arts socials will bring all of us closer, and enrich these opportunities.
● Bounce back from online socials with a string of both new and old socials! Everyone’s excited to get back to in-person events, and I’ll deliver a variety of socials to kickstart the year. Pub crawls, karaoke nights, food trips, Blooms nights... you name it, I'll make it happen!

Previous positions I’ve held include Social Secretary of Musical Theatre Society and member of my college Planning Committee, so I have plenty of experience in organisation and social planning.

I’m flexible, approachable, and sociable, and I believe I’m the perfect candidate to be your Social Secretary next year!

Hello friends, it is I, Arjun and I am indeed running for social secretary of Live Music. In next years post-covid (fingers crossed) world, sociallising will be more important than ever. We must atone for the lost hours and the months of forbidden hugs, we must appease the longing inside us all to once again come together and celebrate our friendships and our youth. For this you will need a fearless leader who can charge you into the battlegrounds of Mully's Karaoke, A gallant soldier who will lead you to merriment through the streets of london and a gracious host to welcome you with open arms to all of their festivities. That person, my friends, is yours truly. The role is one I have held before within Cheer and the Geology Society and I truly believe I can deliver you the socials that you deserve.

Thank you :)
Amal Mehboob
Music is what I am most passionate about. It not only provided me with an outlet, but allowed me to develop my confidence. I joined UCL Live Music as a fresher, and it is through this society and its events that I’ve had the opportunity of connecting with numerous talented people - an experience I would want to play a role in encouraging others to attain.

I believe my time as a social secretary this past year, having organised events such as joint pub quizzes & Netflix party nights, despite the constraints of this pandemic, have really helped me better understand the society & this position’s requirements. Moreover, I hold prior experience such as having been President at my school’s music society, being on my student council, which have developed my organisational, teamwork and social skills which will allow me to take this society to new heights.

My priorities would include:

1. A combination of online and in person socials, depending on the current situation, in order to accommodate those who are uncomfortable meeting in person

2. Taking member’s input on events and implementing it while planning

3. More joint socials with other art societies

4. Creating a comfortable and fun environment

I know how daunting joining a new society can be, so I would go out of my way to make people feel welcome. I have also been told that I am friendly, approachable and am prone to saying embarrassing things that are bound to make you laugh/feel less conscious!
