Hi everyone I’m Edwin and I would like to stand for next year’s Secretary. As the events officer for 2 years, I had experience organizing events, both online and in person. Communication is key to being a secretary, and being in the committee for 2 years have allowed me to talk to a lot of people in the society, meaning not only can I communicate effectively within the committee, I can also reflect on what opinions people have in general in the society, and discuss them in meetings to see what we can do to improve as a society.
Of course, I’ll also be taking organized notes from meetings and follow up with other people and assist them. I will also ensure the newsletter will be published weekly, which helps promote our society to everyone and a summary of events.
During COVID period, many of our events are done online. With current experiences in coding, I can help maintain our LMS website to have a more user-friendly interface and graphic design. I can also upload videos of highlights each year on the website to attract more people to join the society. I will work closely with various officers to help promote and run events.
If events are back to in-person, the SPR booking seems to be a major concern for everyone (in the year before) as lots of people will try to book it. I will try to manage it in an organized way — cross-referencing everyone’s booking and validate who’s a member from a weekly updated list so everyone will have a smooth time while using the SPR.
