Thomas Kenny
Hi, I’m Thomas and I’d love to be one of your Events Officers next year!
The most enjoyable experiences I have had at UCL, both performing and on committee have been part of LM events: open mics, Extravabandza and external gigs, and I aim to bring that same enjoyment to our current and future members next year.

If elected, I will strive to ensure that LM offers as many performance opportunities as possible. I will maintain and (COVID permitting) expand the events that we have had this year with open mics, setlisted gigs in Mully’s or external venues, Extravabandza, Print Rooms and auditioned gigs – I have a plan for a big rock classics night similar to Get The Funk Out! Themed open mics have also proven to be very successful this year, and therefore I plan to introduce a more regular timetable for themed/non-themed open mics so that people will better know what to expect each week.

I believe I would be well suited to the role as I am familiar with the society, have experience organising events from this past year as Events Officer, and I am organised, dedicated, and passionate about music and performance.

Hi everyone I’m Edwin and I would like to stand for next year’s Events Officer. As the previous events officer for the past 2 years, I have had lots of experiences organizing events (both online and in-person)— such as open mic nights, print room gigs, online zoom open mics, and also various external gigs(before covid). I also help started the very first international open mic alongside Tasha where people can perform songs from their own languages. As events officer, I would further promote and develop this event so it will run every year. Also, I will help to ensure open mic signups are smooth and everyone will get a chance to perform— especially in the coming year where live events will be coming back gradually.
However for the time being, most events will be online. I will continue to help organise and plan online gigs and open mics, and potentially more themed open mics depending on what people in the society want.
The second thing I would propose as event officer is to have our own weekly Live Music Night (after covid)—similar to how Jazz Society has their own Jazz Night. It will be a night in an external venue where anyone can come to perform with no signups needed. Moreover, I would ensure battle of the bands will happen again (we didn’t get to organise this because of school closure) and possibly a joint-university one . This will ensure people will know more like-minded musicians not just limited to our own university, and the potential of forming their own band
