Bronte Ellis-Calcott
Hello everyone!
My name is Bronte, and I am a first-year English undergraduate. I joined Law For All Society back in November, as I wanted to immerse myself in a society that would benefit and supplement my ultimate career goal of becoming a qualified solicitor. This year, the society has proved to be an invaluable tool for me, bettering my commercial awareness as well as solidifying my general understanding of the legal industry. The society has helped me so much that I am now determined to ensure that other non-Law students will be able to access the same resources and benefits that the society offer as I have. As a first-year student, who at the beginning of the year wanted to immerse themselves in Law but didn't know at all where to start, I think I would be well-suited to a role which requires active engagement with students who are, perhaps, uncertain or nervous about the intimidatingly massive legal sphere. As Freshers Rep, I would promote the society in various ways, namely through instagram and other social media, as well as engaging face-to-face (coronavirus permitting) with prospective members at every available freshers event. I think that I have much to bring to the table; I am friendly, approachable and enthusiastic, but above all, I truly align myself with the positive nature of the society, being similarly laid-back but very supportive at the same time. I do believe I will be able to reach a lot of first year students, and be able to expand the society.
