As the Managing Editor this year and Marketing Officer last year, I have had the pleasure of driving the development of Kinesis, both as a publication and society throughout my university experience. I am forever grateful for Kinesis, as it has not only revitalised my love for science but also opened my eyes to a future in science communication and journalism. If to become President, I hope to continue creating a friendly platform that unites students with a variety of scientific and creative interests, regardless of levels of experience or academic backgrounds.
Kinesis has thrived during the pandemic and I take great pride in the success of Issue 7 as well as setting the record for audience reach and article turnover on our website. I believe I demonstrated strong leadership skills in taking many initiatives, including re-shaping the publishing procedure, collaboratively drafting guides and maintaining the prompt sheet. But most importantly I cherish communicating with all members of the society, learning from different insights and overseeing the development of every work. As President, my priority would be to expand publicity so that every members’ hard work will be appreciated by a larger audience. Furthermore, I would harness my organisation and communication skills to forge a stronger identity as a society, improving communications between committee and members as well as emphasising that Kinesis is built on the shared love for science and creativity.
